What this does not say
Quoted verbatim from the section’s warnings field, exactly as the API returns it. They are not translated: a translation would show something other than what your response actually contains.
- An estimate, not a fire-risk assessment or an insurance rating: wildfire_exposure_index (0-100) multiplies how often the weather in the address's 1 km cell reaches MET's level 3 fire danger (FWI 17 or more; share of observed days, saturating at 15 %), the flammability-weighted share of AR50 land cover within 100 m (weight 0.6) and 500 m (0.4), and an isolation factor (1.5 with at most 3 buildings within 100 m, 1.2 with 4-10, 1.0 above). Flammability weights are assumptions (coniferous forest 1.0, mixed 0.8, deciduous 0.5, heath and open ground 0.4, wetland 0.2), not calibrated.
- MET publishes only about 32 days of FWI analyses, so the fire-weather history is accumulated from 6 Oct 2026 onwards: status fwi_history_partial means fewer than 365 days are observed and the share describes that period only (autumn-biased in the first months). Null is never zero: the index is null (status inputs_missing) when the cell has no FWI history or no AR50 land cover reaches the address.
- validation names the metric and reference dataset (NASA FIRMS satellite fire detections); its value is null until that reference is ingested. Building materials, distance to the fire service and fuel moisture on the day are not modelled.
- Straight-line EPSG:25833 distances from the address point to the feature; not travel distance. Source features are imported as published, with their own accuracy and update cadence; updated_at is our import time.
Fields
4 of 22 fields are value fields — the ones that decide whether a record actually says anything. The rest are context: identifiers, codes and timestamps.
